Garner was the tenth-fastest-growing town in the United States last year among places over 20,000 people. Its population rose 10.4 percent in a single year to 39,345, and it is up more than a quarter since the pandemic. Building at that rate has a direct and predictable effect on pests, and it is not the effect most people expect. The fire ant question deserves a proper answer.
