Along the I-85 Exit 75 & Highway 9 commercial corridor and the Springfield Road area near Sherman College alike, the yellow garden spider is more common in the sunny commercial and institutional landscaping tied to these developed parts of town. And out on the rural Spartanburg County fringe, where Boiling Springs’ farmland, fencerows, and unmowed rights-of-way begin, the grass spider is the more common species, building its sheet-and-funnel webs low in vegetation and along property lines.
