Along the wooded Swamp Rabbit Trail Corridor, the dark fishing spider favors tree trunks, logs, and rocks near swamps, ponds, and rivers, making this genuine riparian habitat at the trail’s creek crossings a direct match for this species. Throughout established residential neighborhoods, the yellow garden spider is more common in the garden beds and open ground typical of these long-settled yards. And near the Furman University campus grounds as well as the more rural US-25/US-276 gateway toward Caesars Head, wolf spiders are the more common ground-dwelling species encountered in fresh landscaping and open ground-level terrain.
