Historic downtown Woodruff, centered on Main Street where Woodruff’s Tavern once stood, carries the town’s oldest, most established construction, giving pests the aging entry points that kind of construction tends to create. The cotton mill village built up around the old Woodruff Cotton Mill and the W.S. Gray Cotton Mill carries closely-built early-1900s mill housing with its own aging-construction pest pressure tied to more than a century of continuous occupancy. Woodruff sits along the US-221 & SC-101/146 corridor, and the commercial and through-traffic pressure along that route brings its own set of pest concerns. The rural Spartanburg County fringe surrounding Woodruff carries a more agricultural set of conditions tied to well and septic systems and the farmland left behind by the area’s once-extensive peach orchards. And the wooded country around Triple Tree Aerodrome, the international aeromodelling center that draws visitors from across the country for the annual Joe Nall Week, carries its own rural, wildlife-driven pest pressure that the denser parts of town don’t see.
