Why Termite Risk in Poquoson Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All

Poquoson’s older watermen’s neighborhoods combine decades of settling on soft, wet soil with a second factor: many homes were raised onto elevated foundations after Hurricane Isabel’s 2003 flooding, and the replaced wood and lingering moisture from that rebuild can still draw termite activity. The Wythe Creek Road corridor’s newer subdivisions carry a comparatively lower but genuine risk, mostly through vented crawlspaces that trap marsh humidity even in newer construction.
